Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

Why do you only harvest in November?

By harvesting in November our cattle go to harvest following a FULL summer of eating fresh sweet grasses and legumes, rather than dry hay during winter. This summer feeding program, we believe, creates our great beef we're known for.

Do you sell cuts of beef?

At this time we only sell by Wholes, Halves and Quarters. Here is our brochure with more information: 2025 Beef Brochure. We are hopeful in the near future we can add some individual USDA cuts to sell. Keep checking back with our online store.

After I make my deposit will my price per pound change?

We guarantee our hanging weight price per pound. This is our commitment to our customers regardless of increasing feed and operation costs. We cannot guarantee our butcher's Cut and Wrap and Harvest Fees. Our listed brochure price estimates are adjusted each year to ensure they are as accurate as we can be. We understand every dollar is important to our customers.

Can I wait until later in the year to order beef?

We have a set number of beef for sale each year, thus sales are first come, first serve. Orders are open every February to reserve beef and we encourage customers to place their order as soon as possible to ensure they are able to keep their freezers full come November.

What butcher shops do you use?

We have harvest dates set with two local butcher shops: Wynooche Valley Meats in Montesano, WA and Home Meat Service in Shelton, WA.

Do I get to customize my butcher cuts?

Our Butchers allow full customization of your orders to include number of steaks per package, roast size, and how many pounds of hamburger per package. This customized size packaging cuts down on waste and ensures that you get as many of the cuts you want.

When will I hear that my beef is ready for pickup?

Harvest dates are in November. In October, we will reach out to all customers with guidance/tips for customizing your butcher cut order (If you have never done this the butchers are GREAT to work with and will walk you through the process). The October reminder helps you prepare your freezer and ensure you have funds ready when your remaining balance is due.

Is your beef raised local or is it imported?

We DO NOT import our cattle for harvest. All cattle are local and owned by our Ranch for at least one grass season (a summer) prior to harvest. This ensures that our beef is consistent in flavor and free of any added hormones. Many of our harvest animals are raised from birth by us, and we strive to raise all of our own in the future.

Where can I get Tracking Y Ranch merchandise (shirts and hats)?

Visit our online store for all merchandise available for purchase.

Do you have a Brochure?

Here is our current Beef Brochure that includes information on how pricing works when ordering beef and an estimate of what a half may cost. Keep in mind we do not have control over butcher costs for harvest, cut and wrap. 2025 Beef Brochure
