About Us

Our Story

Following years of working on and managing ranches in the Western US, in 2015 we started Tracking Y Ranch with a small herd of cattle from a deal with a family friend whose family farm had been sold. As First Generation Ranchers, we had to find a way to secure land for grazing. At the same time we committed ourselves to grazing cattle in a holistic approach to address not only livestock performance, but also follow practices that would benefit the soil, water, and wildlife.

As a true Family Owned and Operated Ranch, we can often been seen working as a family. If it's rotating pastures, building fence, controlling noxious weeds, seeding native grasses, or doctoring cattle...we're proud to do it as a family.

Since 2015, we have grown from the first winter with cattle in our back pasture at home to now managing properties in four counties in Western Washington. Approximately half of our properties are privately or municipality owned, while the remainder are owned/or managed in long term Conservation Easements. These easements ensure that these lands will be kept in open spaces for years to come for not only the future of Agriculture, but for the wildlife and our children to enjoy.
